Why does Shft-A not work to display airports? It is a double key assignment. The AP commands were all configured as Shift- commands, but they should be Ctrl- by default. Get the correct keyconfig.txt here. It goes into your FsClient\txt\ directory.

Needed share will be created automatically in most cases.
Gauge editor empty caption bug fixed.

19 September 2009
Please note the following (this information seems to be missed, although it is in both the release notes and the recently sent news-email:
Important: You may get a message: "FMC machine does not exist. Please create a share to FsClient folder."
If there is not enough permission in your PC to create the share automatically, you have to do it manually.
The FsClient 5.8 folder should be shared as FsClient, and for 8 users.

Reason is that from now on, flightplan information needs to be accessible via the network preparing for the future FMS. For that purpose, each machine needs the FsClient folder to be accessible eventually as a slave. FsClient will do that if the permissions are adequate, which depends on the system's settings.

With the FMS not implemented yet, it is only possible to load a FP separately on each ND. Captain and F/O will have to load their own flightplan. And fly it by hand (although it is perfectly possible to simulate an FMS by flying FS in GPS mode automatically).

FsXPand 5.8.0 (Beta) has been released.

Warning: 5.8 will make 5.7 stop working. You can install on another machine, or if you want to rerun 5.7,
Start, Run, type the following: regsvr32  "D:\Program Files\FsClient 5.7\control3d.ocx"
From now on, the ocx lives in the System folder and is no longer depending on the project. Following versions will survive.

New features:

What is new in version 5.8 beta (of course you can verify everything using the demo version)

ND:
EICAS:
PFD:
Controls:

extra offsets: vacuum, mixture position

minor issues, fixes:
- ND magenta dashed line is now showing under the heading bug
- selection of engine parameters is only possible with engine gauges, the non-engine parameters only with remaining gauges, the program suggested otherwise.
For your understanding: Custom gauges are never engine gauges. Usually there are unused engine gauges in every configuration to modify instead.
- square black 1 pixel border around each of the standby gauges - is gone
- no occasional overtyping of port box, caused stall of data without the user noticing
- waiting for FS is displayed in FsXpand so you know why it is not yet sending its data
- fs98 flap string error fixed
- A change of a label caption gives only 'Label'
- a few minor bugs

-Compatibility with Windows versions before win2k has been dropped

With FsXPand 5.8, an update fee will be required for registered users of previous versions.
Please see the order page for details.

Fokker models

In the early FS5.1/98/2000 days, I made two Fokker aircraft models that will fly by the book. Performance is tuned to match the figures in the real aircraft manual. Only after the release of FS2002 models with comparable quality became widely available.
There is only one package to my knowledge at the moment to claim similar fidelity.

Especially on approach and landing, configuration and power settings will produce the right airspeeds at a given weight. If you fill the tanks with 64% of fuel, the .air model will be at maximum landing weight.
Designed for FS98, these planes are remarkably accurate. Optimal use has been made of the limited amount of parts available in FSFS.

The flight planning/flight performance program Jet Operator was designed to fly these planes. It allows flying with different payloads with FS98, and is currently under revision.
